Sanders invests to keep up with rapid growth

Clinton Township, Mich., August 7, 2014 – Sanders & Morley Candy Makers announced it has made new investments in technology, staff, machinery and square footage in order to support the company’s growth.

The Sanders baked goods line extensions such as deep dish brownies and caramel Bumpy™ Cake, combined with its creation of new items like milk and dark chocolate sea salt caramels, helped the brand to expand its distribution into several national retail chains and independent shops throughout the United States in recent years.

With increased demand, the company saw it was time to begin making long-term improvements. Its new distribution center opens this month and is nearly triple the size of the previous warehouse. Sanders enhanced internal operations by launching its new Plex Systems cloud based ERP software, upgrading its telephone system, adding a new 500 gallon caramel cooking kettle and hiring several new key employees. The candy company will also complete installation of an additional custom built 34-inch wide, 188-foot long chocolate enrobing line later this year.

“In this highly competitive market, we are grateful that our main challenge has been to further advance our organization to keep pace with increasing demand,” Ron Rapson, President of Sanders & Morley Candy Makers said. “These investments will definitely help us operate much more efficiently and better serve our customers.”

Paying close attention to market trends has also given Sanders a competitive edge. Following the “Better for You” snacking trend, its gluten-free Fruit & Snack Dips were launched in early 2014 as part of the brand’s new Orchard Collection. The Orchard Collection provides healthier snacking options with short ingredient decks and no artificial additives or sweeteners. The manufacturer will also roll out its new Fruit & Granola Clusters as part of the product line later this year.

“We believe you should never sacrifice quality and wholesomeness to save on costs,” said Brian Jefferson, Chairman & CEO of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers. “Our dedication to clean labels has really registered with shoppers, and we’re glad they recognize the value in choosing a brand that uses real ingredients.”
